Coconut-shell-based activated carbon has great demand in the global market and India holds the premier position in the global export of activated carbon. The country exported 38,500 tonnes of activated carbon valued at Rs 347.60 crore during 2011-12.
Milk, milk cream and various milk products including coconut milk, milk powder and cream which are in Chapter 4 of ITC (HS) code which were not allowed to export due to ban has now resumed exports due to the lifting of ban.
Coconut Development Board had made relentless efforts with DGFT to issue the notification which has greatly benefited the coconut industry, a statement issued here said.
